Des Moines Orthopaedic Surgeons and UnityPoint Health – Des Moines are working together to provide the best care possible for patients with physical therapy and hand therapy needs. UnityPoint Health – Des Moines offers outpatient physical therapy and hand therapy services on both the DMOS West campus and DMOS East campus. These services are provided in modern facilities with state-of-the-art equipment including high speed video analysis, strength and conditioning equipment, and work assessment equipment.

The UnityPoint Health – Des Moines Physical Therapy team at DMOS West also offers the AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill, a state-of-the-art technology in rehabilitation science and training to regain function and mobility. The AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill allows users to reduce body weight with an unweighting system that was developed by NASA. This unique technology uses air pressure as a lifting force to reduce body weight by 80% while you exercise, allowing for lower impact on joints and muscles.

The AlterG offers a broad range of uses such as:

  • Rehabilitation after lower extremity surgery or joint replacement
  • Training through an injury
  • Controlled weight bearing to restore normal walking or running mechanics
  • Multi camera view of lower extremity mechanics
