DES MOINES, IOWA, — The Iowa Wolves, the NBA G League franchise of the Minnesota Timberwolves, is excited to announce that on Wednesday, March 22 the IMT Des Moines Marathon willDMOS Iowa Wolves IMT Marathon Logo host a special invite-only marathon exhibition at Wells Fargo Arena.

“We thought hosting a marathon the last week of our season would be a fun metaphor for celebrating the long grind of an NBA G League season and being able to work with DMOS and the IMT Des Moines Marathon in this capacity was something we couldn’t turn down,” said Chip Albright, Vice President of Marketing with the Iowa Wolves. “Did you know that the average NBA G League player actually runs seven marathons over the course of a season? In addition, we think it’s great that so many of our fans get out and walk our concourse for healthy activity all winter long at Wells Fargo Arena.”

The IMT Des Moines Marathon advocates for individuals who actively participate in their health and wellness by engaging, coordinating, and providing community-related running events and initiatives. Since its inception in 2002, the Des Moines Marathon has provided a positive image of Des Moines as a place to live, work, and play by offering race distances for athletes of all ages and abilities, including the IMT Des Moines Marathon & Half Marathon, Bankers Trust Marathon Relay, Principal 5K Road Race, and the Mercy One Children’s Hospital Kids Run.

“When approached with the concept of completing a marathon inside Wells Fargo Arena, my first thought was, has that been done before?” said Chris Burch, Director of Racing & Events, IMT Des Moines Marathon. “Thanks to the support of DMOS, we are going to be the first to do so during a basketball game, and we encourage Des Moines area fans to join us to root for our runners and the Iowa Wolves as they complete a marathon of a season.”

“Building great communities starts with companies coming together in collaboration and creating experiences together,” said Melissa Merrifield, Marketing and Communications Director, DMOS.  “DMOS is proud to support both the Iowa Wolves and the IMT Des Moines Marathon. DMOS is central Iowa’s Center for Orthopaedic Center specializing in sports medicine, athlete training, and orthopedic care.
